The Richard Meares model Bass Viola da Gamba is a six string bass viol made with a figured maple back and sides with a spruce top. It boasts a beautifully carved scroll with purfled borders on the maple fingerboard and tailpiece.
The deluxe model is made with select wood, has a bent (rather than carved) top, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece, double purfling on the front and back, purfled ornaments on the back, purfled borders on the pegbox, and fancy pegs.

The Colichon model Bass Viola da Gamba is a six string bass viol. This viol was patterned after Parisian instrument maker Michel Colichon circa 1687.

The standard Bertrand model Bass Viola da Gamba is a seven string bass viol made with figured maple back and sides with spruce top. It has purfled borders on the maple fingerboard and tailpiece.
The deluxe model has figured maple back and sides with spruce top. as well as an ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. It has double purfling on front and back with 3 additional purfled ornaments on the back.
A further refinement is available with a carved head, select maple sides and back, fine spruce top as well as an ebony veneered fingerboard and tailpiece. It has double purfling on the front and back.
